The First TrimesterAlthough you may not notice too many changes in this time, there is actually a lot going on. Within the first month, your baby is the size of an embryo. This is very tiny, and it does not have a lot of distinguishing features that make it look like the baby that it will end up as.
This changes as time moves forward. In the second month, the baby will start to have more distinguishable features. Its fingers will begin to take shape, although they will have a bit of webbing at this point. The baby has also grown since the previous month, reaching the size of a kidney bean. In the third month of the first trimester, there will be even more change to your baby, although you may not feel it happening or notice a difference in your belly at this time. At this point, the baby has grown quite a bit and should now be about three inches in length. That's quite a big difference from the kidney bean sized baby from the previous month! It will also weigh about one ounce and have developed its own distinct fingerprints. Your baby has already started becoming a real person. While you may not look very pregnant at this point in the states of pregnancy, you will still have some noticeable symptoms and side effects. For instance, you will undoubtedly notice a change in your breasts. They will begin to grow fuller and larger. You may also notice that you feel tire or nauseous. In order to ensure the health of your baby, the first trimester is the perfect time to start thinking about prenatal care. Pick up some prenatal vitamins so that you are getting the right amount of nutrients and minerals. This way, neither you nor your unborn child will be deficient in the ways of health. You will also need to go to your first prenatal doctor visit in this time period. Your doctor will check many things in this first visit. They will be very thorough, giving you a full body exam. They do various tests such as blood screenings and genetic tests to determine the health of not only you, but your baby as well. |
